WASHINGTON — The 2017 Hyundai Tucson compact SUV earned the highest five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
On sale now at Hyundai dealerships, the 2017 Tucson received five stars in the front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover crash test.
The rating applies to front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the 2017 Tucson.
The 2017 Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell SUV has not been rated by the NHTSA.
Standard safety equipment on the 2017 Tucson includes a rearview camera, six airbags, antilock brakes, electronic stability control, traction control and vehicle stability management.
Automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning are optional.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the 2017 Tucson.
Key Tucson competitors include the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4.
