Hyundai Indiahas had a wonderful
2014, as the carmaker marked the highest market share of 21.6% ever since its
introduction in India. In a bid to continue doing great business in 2015 as
well, the Korean automaker is planning to launch a couple of all new products
and updated models of some of its existing cars. The first product to be
launched by Hyundai this
year will be the 2015 Verna
facelift; it is likely to be launched by the end of February 2015.
The Verna that ruled the mid-sized
sedan segment before the arrival of new-gen Honda City, is aiming to regain the
lost ground in the segment. Just so you know, the Verna, currently, is at no. 3
position after Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
Known
as 'Solaris' in Russia, the updated model was launched there in 2014; and the
similar model is likely to come to our shores as well. The new model will
feature Hyundai's Fluidic
2.0 design philosophy, which will make it look similar to the new-gen Sonata.
The
2015 Verna will
get a new front fascia with larger headlamps, redesigned bumper with LED
daytime running lights, new fog-lamps, dual-slat chrome grille and a bigger
airdam. That said, the rear profile of the car might not see any major changes
except the new LEDs and new reflectors on the bumper. The cabin, too, might
remain unchanged, though the company might add some more features.
Mechanically,
the car is expected to remain unchanged. Though, we expect Hyundai to slightly tune
the suspension and steering like it did in the case of Grand i10 and the new
i20. Engine options are likely to remain similar - two petrol (1.4-litre &
1.6-litre) and two diesel (1.4 and 1.6 CRDi) engines.
