2016 Hyundai Sonata news: Apple CarPlay arrives in Q1 2016; Value Edition available for Sport trim

Hyundai has announced two new features for the 2016 Sonata coming in the new year – Apple CarPlay integration and a new Value Edition package for the Sonata Sport trim. The two new updates help keep the 2016 Hyundai Sonata stylish and a fun-to-drive vehicle.

Hyundai has finally announced a release date for its Apple CarPlay integration. According to USA Today, Apple CarPlay will be arriving during the first quarter of 2016. Hyundai initially promised the new feature back in 2015.

In order to install Apple CarPlay, Sonata owners will need to purchase a special SD card with the software included.

"Hyundai and Apple are committed to delivering drivers the best possible experience while using CarPlay in their vehicles. We are currently working together to complete CarPlay integration," Hyundai said in a statement.

Competing service Android Auto is already available for Sonata owners.

Hyundai has also released a new Value Edition package for the 2016 Sonata Sport trim. The 2016 Hyundai Sonata Sport already comes with premium features including a sporty front fascia, chrome exhaust tips, LED lighting and 17-inch alloy wheels. With the Value Edition package, additional premium features will be added for $950.

"This new Sonata Sport Value Edition package will provide customers a compelling value proposition by offering a number of high-demand comfort and convenience features at a significant savings," said Scott Margason, director for Product Planning. Hyundai Motor America.

Hyundai's Value Edition package includes a sunroof, a proximity key with push-button start, a hands-free Smart Trunk and chrome door handles with welcome light.

The package will also come with a few interior upgrades including leather bolsters and cloth inserts for the sport seats, heated front seat and leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.

Along with the Value Edition package, Hyundai is also offering a Premium package ($1,900) and a Tech package ($2,450). All three packages are now available at Hyundai dealers.
